Posted by Larita Shotwell on Wednesday, September 11, 2024

Shakshuka may not be a familiar dish to many in the U.S., but this comforting family-style egg dish is a playful and welcoming way to share a meal with loved ones.

So what is shakshuka? Similar to eggs in purgatory, eggs are traditionally cooked in a fragrant tomato bath seasoned with garlic, cumin and peppers, and served with crusty bread. The dish originated in the Mediterranean and is shared with loved ones everywhere from Israel to Turkey to Egypt. Served family-style in a cast-iron skillet, it’s the perfect centerpiece for conversations around the kitchen table.

The best part? You probably already have everything you need to make this dish in your pantry.
